Our society, the media, some churches, and lots of other people put forth an idea of manhood that I think is incomplete. Not every guy should grunt, fart, be greasy, and abusive towards the women in their life. I'm not saying we should be softies either. There's gotta be room for different men to live differently, yet not necessarily be more or less masculine. One thing that masculinity means to me is the ability to
create something from nothing... or something great from something worthless. This is what captivated me the most about ceramics: that I can take mud from a big pile of mud, shape it, heat it, and create a vessel that was functional and attractive. Whether it's music, art, humor, or anyhting else, I value
creativity.
While cleaning out my room I found two free catalogs that I received in the past. One from
Taylor Guitars, and one from
Black Diamond, a climbing gear company. They had awesome photography in them, so I decided to use about 3 hours of time cutting them up and taping/gluing cut outs onto paper. Below are the pictures... I intend to frame them and hang them up in my room,. I think they're hella tight.
