And now for the other side of the coin- kinda. Would Jesus be pro-life? yes. Would he be pleased by gay marriages? no. But... would he even vote? The problem isn't "How would Jesus vote?" because I'm not sure if He even would. He says, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and give to God what is God's". Jesus never forgot that His kingdom was the Kingdom of Heaven. OK, so maybe Jesus would vote. And I'd say there's a 75% chance he'd vote republican. But that's not the point. The point is that there is SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE THAN POLITICS. We take very seriously the idea of voting how God would want us to vote, yet we give ourselves such lenience and "grace" when we fail to live the life that we're called to.
*Sidenote* We Christians love grace. It's like free life insurance. We have no clue what it means to take up a cross daily and follow Jesus, but we could expound with great fervor the doctrine of eternal security. At the heart of Christ's message and purpose is self sacrifice that others may be blessed... yet we're all about the baby food, and not the solid meat. And we are still... so disgustingly- selfish. Grace is too amazing to be just for you. *sidenote*
I am certain that God is more concerned about His Kingdom than the United States. And if we feel the same way, that doesn't necessarily mean our political stances should change... but there should be more. And some things should be different.
Hold on while I take a deep breath. Phew... ok here we go. Homoesexuals and other alternative lifestyles. It seems like there's more gay people nowadays, and many would argue it's because we live in a gay-friendly society, so people choose to become gay... which is just ridiculous. I believe there are some that actually do "choose" to be gay. However they are the minority. The rest are souls that are brave enough to come out of the closet and face the wrath, prejudice, and hatred directed towards them by a "Christian" culture. And let's say all the republican agendas in this area are successful. Are we going to have less gay people? barely. We'll just have more being shoved back into the closet. But we'd rather have people suffering so that we can be comfortable in our homophobia, right? You see, the problem isn't that there are homosexuals putting on parades and hosting all the shows on HGTV. The problem with this world is not that it is filled with sinners... all 6.2 billion of us. The problem is that so many sinners are not rightly related to God because they haven't heard the gospel, or seen the gospel in people's lives.
And you might say that stopping gay rights will make our culture less sinful... but that's like putting an air freshener on the back of a manure truck. Really all those people want is- comfort in their homophobia. We need a heart check. And we need a wakeup call.
There are bigger travesties and tragedies in this world than the fact that our culture is becoming more liberal. The greatest problem I can think of is this: That so many people don't know that the God of all the universe loves and longs to be in relationship with them so much that He even sent His only son to die on our behalf, in order to cleanse us from our sins. And just as His son Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He offers us full, abundant, joyful, -and even eternal- life... the life that all 6.2 billion of us want. And sometimes that satisfying life seems just inches away... like when you get out of school, or when you get married, or when you get a raise... but it's not close at all. The chasm between the lives we live and the lives we were made for is as wide as the gap between heaven and hell. And the best news you'll ever hear is that God is willing to bridge that gap for you. And the only way that can happen is through the person of Jesus Christ.
**Sorry if you're offended by my blogging. I must say it feels great to get this all off my chest though. Until next time, live abundant life.**

I think that your points made here are great Jon, but I think that you stray from the subject of your blog.
Perhaps "God is above politics" would be better
IMO Jesus wouldn't be a conservative or a liberal, because oftentimes these two political views are totally focused upon accommodating for man's sinful ways. Whereas Jesus already took care of that. So I guess Jesus could form his own political party, the salvation party, everyones invited!
