Love Heroes: meh...

OK... I'm bored with this... I think it'd be funnier as a comic strip- of five unlikely heroes with shortcomings and strengths. The 5 Love languages. I think this is tough, simply because I think that real love is a foreign language to us. And it's something that, just like any language, we have to hear before we can speak. Let's not dumb down love into 5 compartments of "things to do". Love is valuing others above yourself- and then acting.

First, I think we need to "hear" love. We need to experience it and know it. And that only comes from God, and maybe, from Christians. And we need to become fluent in it... to be able to grasp the depths of just how deep and wide is the love of Christ. You can only give as much as you've received... and if you think that you don't have a lot to offer, then you just don't understand how much you have been given.

And we love to focus on the idea of love. Let's all try to love our neighbors. Let's love as Christ loved us. But I think that's something that goes straight over our heads because we don't understand just how selfish we are. We are disgustingly selfish. In our world, and especially in our society. And I hate to say it, but somebody's gotta say it. We gotta stop being normal people who do good deeds... and truly try to be like Jesus. It was clear that He loved his father, and he loved this world. And he starved himself, kept himself from rest, allowed himself to be ridiculed, insulted, and murdered. Let's love the Father and His creation, and trust Him with our lives.
Let's be like Jesus.
